Oakland’s Josh Outman disappointed as team loses series to Texas Rangers 8-1 – MLB Update
The Oakland Athletics lost 8-1 in the game on September 11, when the club went up against the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The club had a chance to break a three-game series sweep but it fell behind the score early as the home team managed
to take a brilliant win. A’s starter, Josh Outman, was disappointed but he had a few words to share on the current situation at the club’s helm.
"Right now, we're playing for pride and we're playing to spoil something, so going out and getting it handed to us like that was disappointing," said Josh Outman.
While C. J. Wilson pitched eight score-less innings against the A’s from the mound, Outman went out to pitch 4.2 innings, conceding four runs off eight hits. He allowed three walks but he managed to pick up two strike-outs. His ERA has climbed to 3.59 while
his new statistical record for the season depicts three wins and five losses.
Going up against the Rangers is not an easy task and the Oakland club knows that fact well. The team is 4-11 against the American League West leaders and the matter needs more supervision from manager Bob Melvin.
Rangers’ Ballpark is a hard venue to register a good performance against. The Oakland hurler knew that fact well.
"It's just always tough to come and pitch here," Outman said. "It's a hitters' park, it's always a good-hitting lineup no matter what nine they throw out there. I battled through the first four [innings]."
Adrian Beltre homered twice for the Texans and the A’s ace had a few words to share about the third baseman that was rumored to go to the Oakland club during the off-season period in 2010.
"He's just been on fire lately," Outman said.
The Oakland club is officially out of the postseason race now and the management is looking to give the youngsters a role in the team before the new season gets underway in 2012. It will be interesting to see how Josh Outman tries to improve his performance
for the remainder of the regular season.
