Question:

Obama, McCain or someone else? Who can deal with this issue effectively?

United States have turned from an independent manufacturing powerhouse and the world's leading creditor into a bankrupt nation with little manufacturing capacity left, dependent on other nations for the imports that maintain our unsustainable standard of living. The result is that the US has become the center of a system in which its number one job is to consume rather than produce.

How does one deal with a superpower that is economically dependent, but also politically useless?

  1. Definitely someone else. The mainstream candidates will never talk about the real issues (on which their positions are mostly identical!)

The problems you are describing are the result of the corporatization of our nation, and the push towards globalization that's been going on for decades (from BOTH parties!). We're really beginning to feel the consequences now.

Both McCain and Obama are globalists. They are both members of the Council on Foreign Relations. These are the people who put us in this mess. They have no intention of getting us out of it. Theeir going to continue the old agenda. Eliminate the middle class, neutralize the American people and devalue the dollar in the global market. Then institute unified currencies and supranational unions whose power will supercede national sovereignty. It's all about the power.

Read their own papers, they're quite clear about their intentions. Then look at the membership rosters of groups like the CFR and the World Federalist Society, and tell me these guys aren't serious!

The information is out there, freely available to all, but most Americans don't know what Mr. TV doesn't tell them...

Ron Paul would get us back on track, but it would take several good administrations and another couple of decades... And like DAR said, 90+ percent of Congress being thrown out of DC, to begin to undo this damage.

We would also have to abolish the Federal Reserve, of course.

  2. We honestly have to throw out 90% of our current reps and start over.  You can't paste a bandaid on what they are doing.

Ron Paul had an idea that would work;others may.  But those in Congress mostly either don't or have compromised it away.

    Go to about 40:00 of Ron Paul's speech, <iframe frameborder='0' width='370' height='375' style='background-color:white' src='http://www.c-spanarchives.org/flash...

If that doesn't work, a video of the speech is a bit down the page here:  http://blogs.kansascity.com/tvbarn/2008/...
