Question:

Obama, black or biracial & why?

Since Barack Obama's mom was white, wouldn't that make him Biracial not black. 50% of his DNA is white. What are your thoughts? If being biracial automatically makes you black why isn't Derek Jeter, Mariah Carey etc considered black? This can be a touchy issue which is why I only want repliers who can discuss race openly in a mature manner.

  1. you are really ignorant..

just to have a biracial president is a start..yes he's black and white and never denies that..duh

also, mariah carey is considered black..SHE'S ON BET cumon now

  2. The question is so stupid, it would be below me to answer it seriously.

  3. Most blacks in America are multiracial, yet society only sees us as black.  Technically he is biracial.

  4. He is black and biracial.  Historically, Americans haven't bothered making a distinction between the two.  I've always thought of Derek Jeter and Mariah Carey as being black.  Most African-Americans have some white blood in their ancestry.

Obama isn't considered Black by the majority of Americans. Look for:

BBSNews - Obama and 'one drop of non-white blood'

Also it's a lie that most African Americans are mixed. DO you know why? Because by definition mixed-race (black/white) people are born from a Black and a White. Therefore any mixed-person has only half as much genetic african ancestry as any Black person. There's no way around this sorry. What this means is:

    If Blacks were 20% White.

    Mixed people are 60% White.

    If Blacks were 50% White

    Mixed people are 75% WHite.

Get my drift? They aren't like us, no matter how much genetic european ancestry they have, we will allways have much, much more. ANd just so you know, blacks average 17% White, and most of them are less than that, not more than that.

Also. You don't have to identify as "biracial" or "mulatto" just because you are mixed-race. You can be White. Agree? Disagree? Check out my blog and see why.

  6. Obama wrote a book about why he identifies himself as black..

It is really beautifully written.  "Dreams of my father: A story of Race and Inheritance"

  7. I think it depends on who he's trying to impress. If he's talking to whites, he will sheepishly call himself bi-racial and hope they can overlook it. If he's speaking to a group of blacks, he will proudly call himself black.
