Question:

Obama, Black or Biracial?

Since Barack Obama's mom was white, wouldn't that make him Biracial not black. 50% of his DNA is white. What are your thoughts? If being biracial automatically makes you black why isn't Derek Jeter, Mariah Carey etc considered black? This can be a touchy issue which is why I only want repliers who can discuss race openly in a mature manner.

  1. What many "true americans" (white) don't want to discuss is most of us are bi-racial or tri-racial.  Most (the majority of) blacks will admit to their native american and white (european) as well as african ancestry.  Geneologists and cultural-historians of southern america touch upon the inter-mixing/inter-marriage of african, whites and native americans in late 1500s to the early 1600s of Colonial America.  Blacks readily embrace that history of their DNA.  White-americans, on the other hand, are somewhat reclutant to acknowledge their native american ancestry; and absolutely in complete denial of any african ancestry--for obvious reasons, given the violent and prejudicial history and dynamic of race relations in this country.

  2. He called himself a "black man" many times before. HIMSELF.
Obviously he doesn't have a problem with that!
