McCain can only win with this scenario!  One of the things that sunk Hillary's presidential bid was her harshness... temporarily reprieved with her choking up to tears in a diner.  This was honestly why I wanted to see a Condi Rice / Hillary Clinton presidential debate.  Women like Condi, Palin, Kirkpatrick and to a lesser extent Thatcher can come across as "strong" without being a witch (or similarly rhyming word that would get my post deleted.)  Hillary just comes across as harsh. And if Obama thinks sending her, Pelosi, Boxer, Feingold or other high-profile Democrat women out to 'counter' Palin.. the contrast will only work in Sarah's favor.

the Clintons put their support behind Obama before Palin was even anounced as the repub. vp nominee.

even if that is so, you cant say that it was to counter Palin because Palin wasnt even here yet.  now if just today the clintons decided to support Obama, then you could say it was an attempt to coutner Palin.
