  1. For political gain. I explained to you in detail at that time the exact reasons why and how

  2. I think this question is too hard for Obama supporters - thus they will not answer it. It deals with a SPECIFIC policy. They NEVER talk about Obama's policies because they don't know about any of his policies. By asking this question, you give them more credit than I would ever. I usually have to include broad statements (with "hope" "change") for Obama supporters to actually answer questions.

If you get one or two answers from them, they will ignore the specific question about the FISA bill and just reply "vote for Obama".

  3. same reason most all did, since impeachment is off the table, any real counter to the FISA act would open serious questions about why and who abused the power previous to the revised act, detailed analysis shows a serious breech of the law while in full knowledge  of the illegality of the breech, would force an impeachment trial. it has long been deemed that two consecutive presidents facing impeachment would be very harmful for the nation and our prestige world wide, although I disagree, that if the crimes were in fact done they should be prosecuted and set a true precedent, but parties are afraid that it would show how corrupt the system has become.

However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.
