John McCain is too old according to you guys. Obama would have no problem.

Please tell me....why didn't your FEARLESS leader step up to the challenge?

If Obama is on the side of truth...what does he have to fear?

  1. No teleprompters and the audience would see his puppet master strings.

  2. There was no reason to.

  3. I think it was more along the lines of Obama had raised more money, so why should he share the publicity with McCain?

But I agree, he should have gone.

  4. I believe after Obama got sizzled at the Saddlewood 'debate', he's going to avoid them at all costs.

  5. I shouldn't have to, but let's get this out of the way first.  I don't think John McCain is "too old".  I don' think Obama is "fearless", nor do I think he is the great "Orator" (he is a good orator).

Now, in answer to your question, Obama proposed several debates which were declined by McCain, as the debates would have inevitably played to Obama's strength of orating well to huge audiences.  McCain, in turn, proposed the town-hall debates, which were declined by Obama, as the debates were clearly geared towards McCain's strengths as dealing well with smaller, more personable crowds.

So, I guess the question could be asked both ways.  In the end, they will both agree to a certain number of debates with many conditions, attempting to make them as neutral as possible.

  6. His refusal says it all, he knows that McCain would make mince meat out of him, blowing all his chances in one night would be just too much to risk!!

  7. The simple answer is that when Obama has to speak "off the cuff" he sounds like a moron. He needs a Forum that is well controlled, with the ability to know exactly what issues will be dealt with,so he can prepare his responses in advance. This is especially true for Obama because he has very few actual core beliefs, and what core beliefs he does have,he needs to carefully hide since most Americans would not like what he truly believes.A fact which is evidenced by the fact that most of the criticism of him comes directly from stuff he's been caught saying when he thought he was talking to a "friendly audience",like his comments about people "clinging to Guns and God" Since then he's been really careful to stay in well controlled Forums.

As for him being some "Great Orator",nothing could be further from the truth.Without a Teleprompter he is lost.

  8. Because he would look terrible.

  9. Because he has his own campaign to run. He doesnt have to do what John McCain wants. He more than likley felt that he could do more good talking to the public alone instead of debating McCain. They will debate. Relax. He isnt scared he just wont be pushed aroundo by Republicans

  10. Only his campaign advisors could tell you that.  I'd guess that they didn't want to give the McCain campaign a sound byte to replay over and over until election day.  Even if you tell the truth sometimes, you can have it taken out of context.  As evidence, see the attached link on an interview of Stephen Colbert. (PG13 btw).

    Yes, Japanese people can fly!

  11. Not an Obama supporter but let me guess anyway...bock, bock, bock!

  12. There will be a series of debates after the conventions. Typically, there are no one-on-one debates prior to the actual nominations. And there is no reason why Obama should debate at town halls just because McCain wants him to - this is a competition, and there is no manager.

Just out of curiosity - What could Obama have said at that one town hall meeting to change your mind and make you vote for him?

The fact is, neither the debates nor town hall meetings sway any voters. Its the statements that candidates make separately about their positions that people rely on when making their choice.

  13. Why didn't John McCain do at least one townhall with Obama?

Remember, they aren't even the official candidates yet...The debate schedule is already set.  I suggest you watch TV on October 13th.

He's so frightened that he is going to have three townhall debates with McCain.

    Great point!

  14. He doesn't do well in front of small groups with prepared statements so he doesn't want to risk it especially since this is his election to win or lose..

  15. Because he originally said he would.

  16. Obama does not have to do anything with McCain.

  17. I would be afraid to be in a room of a bunch of old people who only want to hear a broken record. Obama's use to being around alive, intelligent people. Look at the question you get on here. That is the audience he would have....Why don't you send you brother some money? Rev. Wright? It is insane. I have explained so many things on here to people that have asked the stupidest questions. The latest one is how many houses do you have. Don't people understand it has nothing to do with how many. Can't they read into what it means. They read into idiotic things. I can't speak for him but why stand before an audiance like that. it is a very negative energy to be in a room of people who refuse to think..

  18. Plz Tough Guy let us not resort to such childish games you play

  19. People!!      People!!      People!!

    CHILL!!!

The election is still two months away.  So far we only have "presumptive"  candidates.  Once we are done with the conventions then we can get down to the nitty-gritty.  That is the time for the candidates to square off.  If there is no such meeting between now and the election, then you can say what you will, but I can predict the outcome of such meetings.  Regardless of what candidate "wins" this thing, McCain's people will still back him , as will Obama's and the undecided will feel left out.

  20. He spent part of his Hawaiian vacation practicing without a teleprompter and it didn't work.  He flopped.  He's deathly afraid to face McCain and lose face............ AGAIN!

  21. They have agreed to do 3 dabates.

  22. Ahh, ummm, errr.

  23. he is completely terrified of McCain. He don't even want to do the 3 mandatory debates because he can't use a teleprompter...
