Obama and Biden '08?

Could anyone give me some background on Biden? I know he is an old-school Dem. who prides himself on down-to-earthness, but not much else. I read a Newsweek article on him, but Newsweek is notoriously biased on these things (in my experience, anyway).

  1. Well, he pissed off his own presidential candidacy several years ago after being caught red handed plagiarizing a British politician and stealing his speech.

He has a very long history misrepresenting his own achievements and education. He has stated on many occasions that he was a high achiever and possessed a higher IQ than others, while the truth was he finished at the bottom of his class and was noted to be by his professors as an academic disappointment.

He is a highly dishonest man, but no more so than Obama, the first clean black dude, who is not ready to be President, according to Biden.

  2. Biden has spent as much time living in Washington as much as any other congressman.

He's been embedded in Washington politics longer than most of Obama's supporters have been alive.  I think that's a really welcome change.

  3. For Obama to choose Biden was probably the wisest move for Obama.  The senator does know that he struggles in key states and that he will not get the sourthern states to vote for him---and Georgia has 15 electoral votes, Florida has 27 electoral votes.  Then add Ohio with 20 electoral votes.  He needs at least 270, and those few states provide already 62 electoral votes.  It might not have been so important to win the key states in the primaries, but it is crucial to win them in November.  So Obama picked a running mate who has values like him, who is white, and who has experience which people try to say Obama does not have.  Even though I would have loved to see Hillary as the VP, Biden is a pretty good choice as well.  He will get to those blue collar workers that still reject Obama, and he will be able to convince a lot of the Hillary supporters to vote for Obama--and that(and a lot more)is why Obama picked Biden.

I don't really care what the magazines and newspapers and tv stations dig out on any candidate.  To me they all have their little dirty secrets which they want to keep out of public view, and Biden will not be an exception.  The question is if this choice will propell Obama forward again, or if Obama is still going to lose ground.  Say what you want--there are still a lot of people out there who would NEVER vote for an African-American, even if they could see that it was the best thing---they simply won't vote for him because he is black......

  4. Irish-Catholic, born in Scranton. Struggling family.

Biden lost his wife and daughter in a car crash at barely 30 years of age. His sons survived, and he was actually sworn in as a Senator besides his son's hospital bed.

(He doesn't go to work on December 18th in the memory of his loved ones).

  5. Biden thinks that Obama lacks the experience to be president and i agree

  6. On tv. they showed a tape of Biden where he

declared he did not want to be Vice-President

and would not accept a Vice-President slot.

Hmmmmmm........so, how come he accepted? He has run for president before

in the past, but was rejected.

He is the 3rd most liberal Democrat in the

Senate (Obama is 1st).  I don't read Newsweek.

  7. Dumb and dumber 08 that's Obama and Biden.  The only reason Biden agreed was because he knows that Obama is going to get popped by some crazy KKK member.

    McCain IS our new president.

  8. is this the new modern change that Obama has talked about .????one of the oldest  setting congressman .

  9. If you don't know much about him then how do you know what Newsweek says isn't the truth?

  10. extremely racist...

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” - Joe Biden

""I've had a great relationship [with East Indians in America]. In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian Americans - moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking." -- Joe Biden, speaking to Indian-Americans.

  11. Biden said just a few months ago that he would be proud to run with .... McCAIN!!!!!

He also said that Obama is not ready to be president.

That's all I need to know.  Still voting for McCain 2008!

  12. Epitomizes family values. worked but never lived in Washington. Felt that stability came first for his kids, and commuted by Amtrak every day into and out of Washington DC. Went home to his family in DE every night.

Knows what is like to have to take out a 2nd mortgage to send his kids to college like most working families.

Has foreign relations experience. Had no problem looking in Slobodan Milosevic's face and calling him a war criminal

Arranged aid to Georgia ( the country) this past week.

Helped to engineer the bill Bill Clinton got credit for which put 100, 000 policemen on the streets during the 1990s
