Am i right in noting that his only political experience is running a campaign? He has not had time to do anything in the senate because 100% of the time he has been in office, he has been on the campaign trail.

  1. Look - it's not difficult.

You have to ask a question in the headline.

    We answer it.

    Couldn't be simpler!

  2. tickled blue thinks were all "dumbocrats" by pasting the same old false drivel. Obama has not accomplised mush of anything. To sponsoe a bill, you push a button. It's right next to the yay or nay buttons. You can sign on as sponsoring a bill for politcal cover.

If Obama has "authored" so many bills, why haven't they been passed. It IS a Democratically controlled Congress. Obama has accomplished voting "Present" or been missing in action. Drink more grape Kool Aide.

  3. Nope, you are wrong.  He was an active community organizer in Chicago during the 1990's and served as an Illinois state senator before running for the US Senate.  He was a US Senator for 4 1/2 months before deciding to run for president.  The fact he won the nomination despite his apparent lack of experience should speak to his charismatic vision.  Charisma and vision are two qualities I think are very important to a leader.  A leader is useless if he can't inspire the people to follow him.  Obama will have plenty of experienced advisors to help implement his vision.

  4. Clueless boy you...

  5. False. He has 11 years in government....he has done a ton of things since bein elected. You could do a google search to confirm this, but I will post some of it for you.

    Senate Accomplishments:

Since entering the U.S. Senate in January 2005, Senator Obama has written approximately 890 bills and co-sponsored an additional 1096.

Senators Obama and McCain have been running to be the nominee for President for their parties since January 2007. Therefore the 890 bills written by Senator Obama and the 1096 he co-sponsored all occurred in a 2-year span. That shows that he is a prolific and tireless Senator.

Because of the long-drawn-out nature of passing laws in the Senate many of his bills are still in committee and some were vetoed by republicans. Senator Obama has an impressive record by anyone’s standard.

For someone who supposedly has no record (according to his competitors) his record of accomplishments are extraordinarily impressive and inspiring.

    · Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act.(This is the first federal legislation to be enacted with Obama as its primary sponsor) Became law

    · Secure Fence Act. Authorized construction of fencing and other security improvements along the United States–Mexico border

    Became law

    · The Lugar–Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act. The Bill expanded the Nunn–Lugar cooperative threat reduction concept to conventional weapons, including shoulder-fired missiles and anti-personnel mines Became Law

    · The “Coburn–Obama Transparency Act” eliminated gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and the establishment of USAspending.gov , a web search engine launched in December 2007 and run by the Office of Management and Budget to require lobbyists to disclose the candidates, leadership PACS or political parties for whom they collect or arrange contribution and the combined amount of the contributions Became law

    · Amendment to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program providing one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries Passed in Senate

    · Energy Policy Act of 2005 to add $200 million for Function 270 (Energy) for the demonstration and monitoring of carbon capture and sequestration technology by the Department of Energy Passed in Senate

    · Sponsored an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges, and calling for an official review following reports that the procedure had been used inappropriately to reduce government costs Republicans voted against

Senator Obama sponsored approximately 820 bills in the Senate, since they are too numerous to list.

  6. If you think that writing and passing Nuclear Weapons Legislation is not experience.  If you think that passing Health Care legislation is not experience.   If you think that serving on the Foreign Relations Committee and Chairing the Subcommittee on Afghanistan is not experience.

Read a newspaper and stop getting your info from Faux News.

  7. .I'd say your right.

You dare to speak of the junior senator from Illinois in this fashion?

You mean the one with a proven track record of voting 'present"?

And then the Soros and Ayers connections=experience.Grrr

    McCain/Palin '08

  8. Almost correct. He was a senator for about 120 working days before he decided he should run for president. He was an editor of a law journal and worked with a non profit organization briefly and wrote a book that is a little disturbing. But that is it. He was never in local politics. He was a state senator but they do not run anything. But he has a brilliant personality and can fill a football stadium. Of course, the Sooners had more in attendance at their football game last night than Obama had at his speech. Does that mean Stoops should be president. He has ran a football team and done marketing and has a very successful wife. Maybe I will write him in.

  9. republicansare stupid people proof

  10. 143 days in the senate,with 130 present votes!

  11. the question is now moot as McCain has now chosen an even more inexperienced VP candidate.  McCain will only look hypocritical for raising the issue of Obama's inexperience.

  12. If Obama wins election and takes office in January 2009, he will have served four years in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois.

Before that, he was a state senator in Illinois for eight years. He was also a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School during that time.

His schedule from the school shows him teaching two or three classes in the fall and winter terms — usually Constitutional Law III: Equal Protection and Substantive Due Process; Voting Rights and the Democratic Process; and Current Issues in Racism and the Law. In the spring, he would attend the Illinois legislative sessions. It seems a fairly safe bet that, like most legislators, his constituent work — fielding phone calls and helping people in his district — went on year-round. Press reports indicate he would do a small amount of private law practice during the summer. So that's eight years as a public official in Illinois, bringing our total to 12 years.

To get to 20 years of experience, we still need eight years from Obama's career prior to holding public office. Obama graduated from Columbia University in 1983. He worked for a year as a financial analyst; in his memoir he said he spent his days behind a computer terminal, "checking the Reuters machine that blinked bright emerald messages across the globe" and feeling like "a spy behind enemy lines." He gave up that job to go into community organizing, work he felt was more important politically. He worked three years as a community organizer in Chicago before going to Harvard Law School. We won't count the junior-level business experience as working "on behalf of families who are having a hard time," but the community organizing work does seem to fit the bill. That brings his work experience to 15 years.

At Harvard, Obama began to receive national attention. He became the first black president of the Harvard Law Review and was recruited heavily by law firms around the country. (He met his future wife, Michelle Robinson, as a summer associate at the Chicago firm Sidley Austin.)

He graduated in 1991. He ran Illinois Project Vote, a voter registration drive, for much of 1992, and then accepted a position with the Chicago firm Miner, Barnhill & Galland. The firm specialized in political and civil rights work and neighborhood economic development work. He also began teaching at the University of Chicago in 1993. He was elected to the Illinois state Senate in 1996 and took office in 1997, so his full-time work after law school comprises five years. That gets us to 20 years.

(During these years, Obama also worked on his career as an author. His memoir Dreams from my Father was published in 1994 and reprinted after his speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. A follow-up, The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream, was published in 2006. His personal financial disclosure statements show that those books earned him $1.8-million in 2005 and 2006, the majority of his income.)

The other part of Obama's claim is that his experience is "on behalf of families who are having a tough time and are seeking out the American dream." We take that to mean his experience is broadly in the field of public service, and that too is an accurate claim. The bulk of Obama's professional experience is either in elected office or working for a nonprofit, a university or a civil rights law firm.

  13. Exactly...

Palin's stint as governor of a "state that produces 20 percent of America's energy" as well as her previous membership in the PTA and her time spent on the city council and in the mayor's office in Wasilla, a town of fewer than 7,000 people outside Anchorage.

By contrast,  Obama was a community organizer when she was in elected office. He was in the state Senate and voted 130 times present. He never took on his party on anything. She took on a party and the old bulls and the old boy network and she succeeded.

  14. y ask this question. you dont like Obama hussein whatever. we all know that Palin is inexperience, yet all i hear republicans say is that she is exactly what the republican party needs. McCain has MANY illneses, yet he elects a person that did not even know what a VP did.

i think that is a insult to women that he got a Female VP. but hey thats just how it is. if you think that that is not insulting, you go ahead and look at your states IQ

LMAO< THEY REPORTED THAT GUY THAT SAID REPUBLICANS ARE STUPID LOL,

another reason i dont like republicans, they are in too far in their onw SHi2t

  15. Obama was in the Illinois senate in 1996 and has been in the US senate the same time Palin has, but he has been under scrutiny for 2 years. He proposed a time line in Iraq and Bush followed his lead.Became the candidate of change now Mc Cain has followed his lead.

  16. No, Obama has no real experience

  17. Alaska has 700,000 people. The town Palin was mayor of had 9,000 people Obama has been representing millions of people for several years, plus many thousands in the State Senate for 8 years.

Obama won his nomination through the most grueling primary ever, including 29 debates, a record.

Palin got her nomination on a silver platter, and clearly wasn't thoroughly vetted.

Palin is McCain's biggest mistake of his campaign.

  18. Well at least he did'nt pick a 44 year old soccer mom from the woods of Alaska for his VP. This just shows McCain has poor judgment.
