Here's the deal:

Let's just say that You own Home Depot and you are looking for a new CEO. Home Depot is a big corporation and millions of people are dependent on it's well being.

As you are interviewing prospective CEO's this guy comes in and says, "I will change the way you do business! I will make Home Depot the best in the world! I will help everyone in the company be better!" You are impressed. You are very excited to have a guy with this kind of energy and enthusiasm! You quickly ask him to let you see his resume...that's when it gets stupid. His resume reads:

Ace Hardware...2 years...assistant manager

Hardware Department at K-Mart..7 years...assistant manager

Does the owner of Home Depot hire this guy?

The answer is NO.

  1. Qualification isnt just based off of experience

  2. lol I like the analogy.  It's a bit far stretched, but I get your point.  I wouldn't say he is absolutely not qualified to be President, I'd just say he's not as qualified as McCain by any stretch of the imagination.

  3. Yeah, this is a really bad analogy.

I started managing an entertainment retail store with no experience just out of college. Within a year, that store went from #121 to #3 in terms of sales volume.

I have also seen people who have many years of experience doing a mediocre job.

  4. Before Howard Hughes bought TWA, he took a job as a baggage handler to see how the company worked. Didn't seem too bad an idea for him, did it?

  5. honestly i think he's just popular not exactly qualified...but u never kno...never judge a book by its cover....

  6. No, I agree.

  7. in a democracy the only qualification you need is the support of the  majority of the electorate

  8. Tell them This..Don't Hate Change, Change Hate Obama 08!!!!..... I'm Rich Biaotch .....Why thank you...

  9. Very well put.  But you are forgetting, in your case, the employees get to vote for who their CEO will be, and all they hear is change, change, change.  And the new CEO is going to pay the store managers the same amount of money that he pays the people who sweep the floor at night, and also continue to pay the people who quit the store.  So people will have no incentive to work hard and do a good job and try to advance, as a matter of fact, people will get sloppy and even quit, because they will still be getting the same pay.

  10. Well, let's see..Bush had been governor of Texas for 6 years and he was elected as President twice. Reagan was governor of California for 8 years prior to being President. Eisenhower didn't have any prior political experience. FDR had 5 years of combined political service before serving as President for 12 years.
