Very good question; if you were running for a a public office, especially U.S. President, would it not be prudent to correct and in your own best interests to give your half-brother, just for the sake of being politically correct a few hundred dollar a year stipend to bring his standard of living, especially because he lives in the Godforsaken region of Kenya as it would bring him way above poverty level?

Because the rent is cheap. Or if you actually mean "Why doesn't Obama give his half-brother George (one of eight half-siblings) a bunch of money?", I expect he would if George needed it; even though Obama's father wasn't married to George's mother, Obama still regards him as a relative.

Also, in context, Obama was talking about the principal of all people caring about and helping each other, not just his own family.
