In 2007, Senator Barack Obama stood up for a gun owner. He endorsed Chicago Alderman Dorothy Tillman in her Democratic primary. Not only was she a gun owner, but she had even pulled a gun on her colleagues during a contentious 1991 ward redistricting hearing, according to eyewitnesses. Tillman, best known for demanding to be served by black (not white) waiters, and for advocating reparations for slavery, narrowly lost her race despite Obama’s support.

It would be only a slight exaggeration to say that this was the strongest effort Obama has ever made to support gun rights.

  1. I knew Ms Tillman personally, in Chicago she was known as "The Hat Lady".  She tried to brow beat me into giving her Toys for Tots so she could look good for her ward.  She got nothing but I sent 60,000 to the Martin Luther King Center in her ward before any other agency got toys. So the answer is yes, he supported a real loon.

  2. Yes.  "Did she cling to her religion too?"

  3. Guns are Friends.

  5. the issue of gun control took a big hit from the supreme court. their most recent ruling will prevent from happening here what happened in pre-WWII Germany, total gun control. And beyond that, in my state we changed our constitution by dropping that c**p about "in an organized militia" we have the right to keep and bear arms.
