  1. FUTURE profit maximization, and maximizing FUTURE value and wealth. A lot of the firm's choices are about looking ahead and not just at the present.


  2. If it´s a widely held public company then the profit motive is the only one. If it´s closely held then the objectives of the company will be the profit motive and whatever the whims of its founder are.
