Oblivion duplicate?????

Question

I know how to duplicate but im so scared that if i do it, it will mess up the game and i'll have to start over. so will it mess up the game or not?

please help!?

It never messed up my game.  However, it would always freeze whenever I tried it with lock-picks.  But, no it never caused any long term damage.
