Obsession with suits???

Question

I recently moved to Dublin and have found that, almost unfailingly, while searching for apartments, landlords tend to sneer at my boyfriend and I because we work in a record store, and he has long hair. Yet we aren't rude, dirty, or unreliable. Because of this we've lost out on several great apartments, and still haven't found one! I'm going crazy! Could someone from Dublin PLEASE explain this obsession with mundane, clean-cut images?????

I dont think it has anything to do with Dublin peeps. It goes on everywhere. My husband used to be a property manager in Nevada, USA, and always made the mistake of "judging a book by its cover". The funny thing was though, was that the guys in the suits were always late on their rent, and the scroungy looking guys always paid on time. Property managers get intimidated and judge you by your looks and automatically assume you will not pay.
