Question:

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Treatment?

I probably sound crazy, but I think I may have OCD.

I thought I may have had it for quite some time, but things are getting worse. I count numbers frequently, if I pick up something at work (say a pen or pencil) I have to find the one that feels "right" and if I don't, it feels like something bad will happen. If things aren't all facing the same direction or organized in a certain way, I get terrible anxiety.

These are just a FEW examples of things that go on throughout my day and it's really starting to interrupt my home and work life.

How do I go about seeing if I really do have OCD?

Who should I get in contact with?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

  1. When you have this problem, you should right down how many pens you go through before you find the right one.  If the number lowers a lot you are getting better.  If the number increases you are getting worse.  I am not a professional in this field but most people find pens made of the same model are all the same.  If you are just going through them to find one that looks different you shouldn't worry.  A lot of people have problems picking out something they like.  I feel that way about computer games.  When I go shopping for clothes, I don't have the exact clothing and what color in mind, but you must always be thinking something is better than something else you might be getting the feeling that you would rather hold the other pen more.  If you feel that way about people it could lead to problems.

  2. You need to contact a psycho therapist.  You do have symptoms of OCD and it can be addressed with medication.  Don't let this go untreated as there is help out there just do some searching until you find the right doctor for you...good luck!

  3. No need to see a therapist. Many people have OCD not even knowing it, but they can live a pretty nice life with the right decisions made.

The first and best advice I can give you is GET LAID. Trust me, that will keep you relaxed and not being worried or anxious about things (which is the main cause of OCD). Try to get into a relationship and act normally. Don't be anxious to tell the other one about it because actually you may not have the condition. Be cool and live cool. Keep yourself busy and focused in your job or studies and then the anxiety will go away.

From what I read, I don't really think you should see a therapist. Talk to your friends and family and they will help you out. However, if you're continuously anxious, some Diazepam could help.

    Bye

  4. You need to get to a psychologist, or similar, right  now.  If you don't, I can assure you that your problems WILL GET WORSE.

  5. I have a lot of the same symptoms. I count count count everything you could probably possibly think of. It's extremely frustrating, especially if you are like me and do not want to take medication. It's nice to know there are others like me out there.
