Obsessive behavior from my 14 month old -- normal?

ruby is obsessed with "babies." in particular, she is obsessed with the pictures of herself on my and husband's phones, as well as her pics on the computer. i doubt she knows they are of her -- she just knows they are "babies!" baby was her 3rd word, after mom and then dad. when she wakes up, i come into her room, and 9 out of 10 mornings, the first thing she does is point downstairs and say "baby!" (and she knows at least 20 words, so it isn't that). when her dad is around, she is constantly reaching in his pocket to get his phone, asking again "baby! baby!" this happens on and off all day and has been going on for at least 6 weeks. now, i like to think this is normal, the fixation. but i was an obsesive-compulsive kid, so i guess i am extra paranoid that it is no normal. anyone else have a kid who fixates on something like this?

My 15 month old boy is obsessed with Balls. He wakes up to "ball"! and plays all day long. if he sees a photo of a ball he goes crazy . he just the same with our cell phone too, like you . he wants to see photos of the baby.

Yep, it's normal. My kids a ham, she's 19 months old, and as soon as you pick up the camera, she runs to sit at my side so we can look at pistures mum, lol. I ask her who is in the pictures, and she says her name. She also likes to look and play with the mirror in her sing n dance stage. Good luck!

Yup, definitely normal.  Young children love to look at the same things over and over again.  Many parents will tell you they get sick of watching the same movie, playing the same game, reading the same book, etc...

I agree, totally normal.  My two year old daughter (3 in October) is completely obsessed with babies too.  Anytime she sees a child that is obviously young (3 or younger), she'll point and scream "BABY!  Look at the baby!!!", or she'll see pictures of babies in magazines, books, photos in people's homes, pictures of herself or her older sister, and it's always the same: "Look at the baby momma!!!"   It's very cute, but I too thought it was strange just how incredibly obsessed she is.......she also watches the same two movies over and over and over and over again (Cars & Ratatouille)....hope this helped!  Good Luck.

Completely normal. My daugher is obsessed with babies too. She will be 2 next month. That is not obsessive behavior really, its just normal. Buy her a bunch of baby dolls. I did that and got sets of play food and bottles for the babies. I also broke down one day at toys r us and bought a little doll cradle and baby changing station. She received the My First Doll House from Fisher Price also and she loves that!!
