Question:

Obsessively imagining an injury?

For two days now, I have periods of time in which I am nauseated and disgusted because I am imagining slicing my cuticle open. It helps sometimes if I press on the cuticle, but it is really starting to get to me. This is clearly some sort of psychological thing, as nothing happened to my cuticle. Is this completely crazy? Is there anything I can do to stop obsessively focusing on this imagined injury?

  1. It seems that you might have OCD or something similar.Pray to GOD about this.GOD is the only one who can solve this.Try expressig your feelings in art or drawing.Watch constructive television shows that don't involve injuries or anything.Play constructive video games.Talk to a parent or close friend that you can trust.I hope that I helped you in some way or another.GOD BLESS you!

  2. you should really get some help i hear stonybrook has a good mental hospital!

  3. I've had this many times. There is nothing you can do about it other than try to get your mind on something else. You could just have anxiety. This does not in any way mean anything is going to happen.

  4. This happens to me a lot because i have anxiety over very little things. Sometimes my "occurences" are not even over injuries ...the best suggestion i can give you is to get your mind on something else and keep it busy- do something fun, something that you like to do (I like reading, puzzles, even talking to someone else about it, anything that needs a good deal of focus to do.) This may help keep your mind at bay, and the thought will eventually go away.

  5. Well, when you're about to start thinking about it, think of something else. Like watch tv or just focus on a different thing. Just distract yourself. That sometimes happens to me too, and I just start talking to someone or doing something else.
