Obtaining A Passport and Visa?

hi, I don't know the first thing about how to obtain a passport, how do you go about getting that and how long does it take? This coming summer (if everything goes as planned) I would like to visit my girlfriend in Kyrgyzstan and heard you can get a 1 month visa at the Manas International Airport just outside Bishkek and was wonder how would I go about getting that (do I need to fill out forms, etc.) and would it at all be possible to get a 2 month visa at the Manas International Airport?

You contact your countries gov't to obtain forms for getting a passport that you will have to submit to your gov't.

Usually your travel agent can arrange a visitors visa for you.

But you can apply directly (Ahead of Time) to the county's consulate that you wish to visit.

Every foreign citizen should be registered in the local department of OVIR or in the company that invited him to Kyrgyzstan but only if he stays here for more than 3 days (days off are not included).

For visiting Kyrgyzstan we advise to have medical insurance that includes alpinism. For visiting some zones of Kyrgyzstan it's necessary to have documents, confirming the insurance. It's recommended to take all the necessary documents, including guarantee letter about payment of rescuing works.

For visiting Kyrgyzstan visa is enough. But for passage to the border regions with China and six zones at the territory of Kyrgyzstan special permit is required. They are: zones of Inylchek, northern part of Terskey Ala-Too, from Ak-Sai at the east till Juuku at the west, Chatkal valley, and Ak-Sai glacier at Ala-Archa gorge. As for passports, you can apply through most post offices by filling out the proper forms. At the moment, the waiting period is down to below 6 weeks. But, summer travel is always high, so don't wait until this summer to apply. You can always pay a higher expedite fee, although if you apply now, there's no need to, or you can go in person to your nearest passport agency.
