Obtaining a Birth Certificate in San Salvador?

Hello!

I need to get a copy of my husband's birthcertificate.

He was born in El Salvador in Santa Ana.

I need the cost and the address to request this information.

Any and all information much appreciated.

  1. You might want to call and inquire with the El Salvador embassy or the nearest consulate to you because they'll probably give you the specific information.  However, it might be a lot like Nicaragua when we had to have someone physically get a copy of the birth certificate from the "Alcaldia de Managua" which is basically city hall.  They should have a department that handles certificates (marriage, birth, death, etc.) like our courthouses and city halls here in the U.S.  This probably can't be done by mail directly with them and you will need to send someone on your behalf.  That person will most likely need some type of a power of attorney to be permitted to obtain the document.


  2. You should be able to contact a relative in Santa Ana, El Salvador. This person has to go to the "Alcaldia de Santa Ana" (City Hall) and request your husband birth certificate (one or more). This person has to fill this form and pay $2.06 for each copy of the certificate.

  3. i just got my certificate from el salvador and im a citizen by birth. you just have to go to the alcaldia of where you were born or where you went to get your first certificate and they should give it to you.
