Obtaining a New Zealand Citizenship / Passport ?

Question

I am an Australian born son of a New Zealander. I was born in 1985, currently 23 years of age and wanted to know if I may obtain a New Zealand Passport and if so how I may go about in doing this.

Well being a aussie you have the right to work and reside in Nz (and vice versa) anyway....

You can apply for New Zealand citizenship by descent if your father was a New Zealand citizen otherwise than by descent (see link below for definition). Once you have citizenship (which only takes about a month), you can apply for a NZ passport. If you're an Aussie though, why bother?
