Question:

Obtaining an Addiction to WoW?

Recently, I've tried to get addicted to WoW. I keep trying to get into it, but to me, it's just hard. I'm finding myself thinking that getting from level 17 to level 18 is a grind. All of the quests that I have been taking are the SAME. I always have to go to the middle of nowhere, kill 15 things, and then return the quest. Sometimes I might have to get 10 [Generic Body Part]'s, and the drop rates are DEPLORABLE. I get bored very easily, and can never play the game for more than an hour and a half.

Therefore, I'm looking for some help with getting 'addicted'. It seems like it would be alot of fun in the end, but getting to level 70 for the first time seems like it would take me years. Seeing videos of humongous raids, flying in the Outlands looks so awesome, and the lowering of mount's level requirement to 30 are great, but I can only imagine how long and boring getting there would be.

With the -soon?- release of WotLK, I'd like to get to a higher level as soon as possible, because I'd find it ridiculous to JUST be getting to Outland when everyone else is going to Northrend.

I'm currently a level 17 orc warrior, taking quests in the Ghostlands (I was told I would level a bit faster there), and would like to make it clear I have no intention of 'grinding' to 70. I hardly have the patience to do that.

Please, any advice, tips, etc. would be appreciated.

  1. I think you d better stay the way you are. It is better that you are not addicted to this game.I hope you listen to my advice. Don't forget addiction is sickness!!

  2. To be honest, "Claps" bravo to know that your not addicted, because a lot of people consider this game way too addicting. The thing is that it doesn't get any funner when your higher lvl, it's a constant grinding and the sad part is that they lowered the XP. Which means more grinding! to be able to make one lvl when your 60+ it takes at least 16 hours total, this is a math i made based on playing and counting how long it would take me to lvl from 63-64. I have 70's but since they lowered the xp now is a constant grind, if your not a hardcore player you would probably spend days to just get one lvl. My advice is that i'm glad your not addicted, because it doesn't pay off when your high lvl, all you do is grind on pvp, to get good gear but that geat goes out of date within months.

So if you get your full pvp when your 70 even though it took one month in two month it will be obsolete. I did all my lvling using a guide, to lvl even faster and grinding is horrible, if you want to be maxed by the time WotLK comes out my best advice is to buy a lvling guide, try Joann's guide, you need to remember after Burning crusade you'll need to do the lvling on your own because the guide doesn't update on the expansion. Wotlk is coming out sometime in december or around xmas, however i heard horrible things about it, they say that is going to be more grinding but for money once your maxed out. Because the game will require you to have too much money if you want to be powerful, your skills will be based on how much money you spend on your characters, so the game will never be balanced.

This is Blizzard's way of keeping their costumers so they stay longer in the game. My best advice to you, is enjoy the game while your 17 to 18 because the outlands isn't actually fun, it's pretty barren and theirs usually no one in Bruning Crusade, except honor hold and shatt. The most fun i ever got out of lvling up, was lvling up a new character.
