Obtaining birth certificate in Australia Melbourne.?

Is it possible to get a birth certificate from births deaths and marriages on the same day you show up to the office ?

what identification will I need.

there is no way to contact the office and ask them, it is only an automated machine.

Anyone know ?

yes you can, it will cost extra. you will need 100 points of i.d.

You will receive your certificate on the same day. I did - and I didn't even go in personally. My partner was able to pick up mine when he picked up his.

Fill in this form and take it to the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages at Ground Floor 595 Collins Street, Melbourne 8.30 am - 4.30 pm Monday to Friday

(excluding public holidays).

You will need ID - a list of what is acceptable is on the form. (eg. I used my driver's licence, medicare card and a bank statement.). They have to be original documents, no photocopies.

It will cost you (AUD)$25.80 for a standard birth certificate or you can pay (AUD)$39.00 for a fancy commemorative one.

You will receive your certificate straight away. It doesn't take long, just depends how long the queue is!

There's no extra cost for obtaining it on the same day. It's the same whether you order it online or go in person. Best to go in person as then you don't have to worry about anything getting lost.

Nothing is that simple, this is an Australian government department we are talking about.  No, they will mail it out to you.

ID- take as much as possible with you, passport is the best, drivers license etc...
