Question:

Obviously, I'm biased to anything involving him, but how sweet...?

Was Hossa's goal in the game tonight?

Also, what moves should the Pens make to stay competitive over the course of the offseason? I know the Cup isn't decided yet, and I honestly do think its still a series after the play in these last two games, but I'm also inclined to look ahead....Opinions?

Personally, I'd like to re-sign Hossa, and shore up defensively, but I've made that abundantly clear...Your thoughts?

Also, gotta comment on the game tonight...Well played, well called...great hockey to watch from the perspective of a hockey fan...the Pens fan in me took it hard, though. =( Congrats to the Wings and their fans on a great win in another stellar game. Though the final tallies may mask the fact, this series is a lot more competitive/ fun to watch that they'll show, IMO.

  1. Great goal.

    I love Hossa!

  2. That was a nice goal. Hossa has been known to do that every now and then.

  3. I have a different view point for the Pens goal tonight.  I say "What a clever veteran play by Gary Roberts that allowed Hossa to score."

Check out the replay of the goal, especially from the behind-the-net view and see if you can spot what happens.  Roberts sees a Red Wing stick (Zetterberg) in his legs.  He turns his body so that his legs move the stick and the stick actually moves Osgood's skate away from the post.  And since it's not his stick there's no way interference can be called.  Hossa saw what was happening and quickly dove for it and tucked the puck in net.  Robert's gets half the credit for the goal from me.

  4. As good as Hossa has been especially on the back-check....i do NOT want him in a pens uniform after this season, unless he is willing to take a paycut, which i doubt....I'd rather have Dupuis and Orpik back...

    Resign:

    Orpik

    Malkin

    Staal

    Dupuis

    Malone

    Roberts (if he doesn't retire)

    Laraque (great along the boards)

    Hall

    Smith

    Stone

    Filewich

    Brent

    Maybe's:

    Ruutu

    Taffe

    Eaton

    Conklin

    Lannon

    Goodbye-

    Hossa

    Nasreddine

    Melichar

Hossa is to expensive, he's good, but to expensive....goodbye.

  5. Hossa is a keeper.

  6. It was plenty sweet! It kind of makes me sad, though, because I know there is little chance the Pens will be able to hold on to Hossa during the offseason. By keeping Crosby, Malkin, Staal, and Fleury, re-signing Hossa is pretty much an impossibility. If the Pens do somehow manage to keep all those five, look out for a rematch next season, Wings!

I think Orpik may be gone, as well. Even if the Pens do win the Cup (unlikely after tonight), I read somewhere that he does not want to play under Therrien a day longer than he is obligated to. Malone may also be out after this season. He's made a name for himself this year, and I bet there are some other teams willing to put down a larger sum of money for him (only he won't be bringing Malkin along).

As for tonight's game, it was just as entertaining as Wednesday's. I'm still really disappointed the Pens lost, but oh well. Congrats to the Wings.

  7. That was a good goal.  This goal is my favorite by Hossa during the playoffs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KeBQGklh...

  8. Hossa's goal was sick.  Totally owned Osgood on that one, I'll admit.  As pissed as I was that they scored, I had to say to myself how awesome that goal was.  Had it not been for the crossbar, this game could've came out different.

  9. I'm a Wings fan, and just as I muttered to my friend at the bar "look out, they've got their PP set up" he scored that beauty. Hossa's gifted and I love watching him play.

Crosby has lost his composure again. I'm not sure he's up to wearing the C, just yet. When your teams sees you doing a Naomi Cambpell act on Zetterberg after the horn, that's not leadership.

Orpik embarrassed himself- he let a rookie half his size knock him down and undress him to set up the winning goal. Orpik was also on the ice for Lidstrom's goal, so was minus 2 on the night.

I didn't notice Roberts at all. They do need more veterans, but younger than Roberts.

The bartender at Logan's was a Pens fan and he was great to us. Something about hockey fans getting together just brings out the good in people and he was complimenting Hudler on his goal, and Helm for his set up.

Great game by both teams, really. Very intense, down to the last second.

  10. He was the best Pen out there.

Thanks for being gracious. The Pens played well, they will be in the hunt for years to come.
