  1. Why?  This has nothing to with Global Warming.  How silly!  The article says "Global temperatures will drop slightly this year as a result of the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific...likely that La Nina would continue into the summer...temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory...The WMO points out that the decade from 1998 to 2007 was the warmest on record"

I think what the World Meteorologic Organization is saying, is if you think the cool temperatures the pas ten years disprove global warming, you're wrong!

  2. Hey, it just occurred to me.  All these Kool-Aid lovers say that Global Warming comes back every time, even when we have cooler years, and they even go on to quote those cooler years.

Would it not be just as accurate to say that Global Cooling comes back just as strong after an unusually warm year like 1998?

Has it ever been hotter that 1998?  Yes.

Using 1880 as a baseline, is the last 30 year average (the new Kool-Aid standard) hotter than normal?  Yes

Using 1940 as a baseline, is the last 30 year average hotter than normal?  NO.

Given a small knowledge of statistics, I must say that if you are going to use a 30 year average as your yardstick, then you data pool must include accurate temperatures from the last 300 years.  With that in mind, if the AGW alarmists insist on a 30 year average, then statistically they cannot prove AGW in any logical way at all.

To answer the question, I think that when Al Gore starts living the life he advocates for everyone else, I just might be inclined to believe him.

  3. This is one for Jello. The scientist in the report was confident that there will be a new record temperature within 5 years. There's a prediction.

October 10th was colder than October 15th, does that prove that winter is not coming?

  4. The 6% of the population that believes that the lunar landing was a hoax may never come to terms with global warming:

"Seventy-one percent say that global warming is probably happening, 6 percent believe it is probably not happening..."

    http://www.fightglobalwarming.com/conten...

"A 1999 poll by the The Gallup Organization found that 89 percent of the US public believed the landing was genuine, while 6 percent did not..."

Denial is a perfectly normal reaction to a threatening situation:

    Psychology: Denial

    http://www.wowessays.com/dbase/ae5/csk11...

"Dr. Hilary Knatz, the author of Getting On, states that 'Denial, is a way of coping with unpleasant realities' (Knatz, 1999). She then goes on to explain that: Denial, in the psychological/psychiatric vernacular, is a defensive strategy to minimize anxiety."

"Sadly, many addicts continue to act out on their addictions while their world collapses around them blaming everything but the addiction for their problems (USDHHS, 1994)"

  5. You should be the one doing the praying

Only religious people can equate things ,with beliefs and praying.

you must be one of those.

Watch http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ and then pray to God to be cool maybe that will help. But it still leaves out the bits that we are responsible for.

Humanity is partly to blame and it is a big part

So it is up to US to make changes

Just look at Gods track record ,does it prove that he loves us so much, enough to respond to our prayers??????

  6. You obviously practice "selective reading" if you think this article claims global warming has stopped. You are right - It's time to get busy and act.

Here's some quotes from your link:

"But experts say we are still clearly in a long-term warming trend - and they forecast a new record high temperature within five years.

The WMO points out that the decade from 1998 to 2007 was the warmest on record. Since the beginning of the 20th Century, the global average surface temperature has risen by 0.74C. "

    Here's more:

"When you look at climate change you should not look at any particular year," he said. "You should look at trends over a pretty long period and the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming.

"La Nina is part of what we call 'variability'. There has always been and there will always be cooler and warmer years, but what is important for climate change is that the trend is up; the climate on average is warming even if there is a temporary cooling because of La Nina."

  7. Look at the data (which is why we KNOW global warming is real, and mostly caused by us).

This is just one below average winter, which doesn't mean a thing.  It happened in 1982, 1991-1992, 1999-2000.  EVERY TIME global warming came back stronger than ever.  Proof.

As long as we keep making greenhouse gases in enormous amounts, global warming will dominate in the long run.  It's simple physics.

  8. Which part of the phrase "drop slightly this year as a result of the cooling effect of the La Nina" didn't you understand?

Global warming is a climate change issue.  Climate is the average of weather over a 30 year period.  A cold winter or year (still significantly warmer than the 20th century average) is meaningless when discussing climate change.

  9. We've been told that so-called "global warming" was due to co2.

Now co2 levels are increasing every year and temperatures are not, the cause is now being shifted to La Nina.

What they are doing is proving that nature, not man is responsible for all climate changes.

Nothing man is doing can effect the temperature of just one ocean in one hemisphere.

[Edit] aaronesque - No one can predict the future.  I'll bet if you gave the same information to 100 scientist, you would get 150 different predictions.  This proves nothing except that the science is subjective.  No one can foresee the future.

  10. Please tell who you are quoting, with "Global Warming Worshippers".

  11. Lol. Thanks for the info.
