Has any one stayed at this hotel in Cuba recently?

I have been told that the men need to take long trousers, because you are not allowed shorts in the resturant - also you are not allowed to wear open toed shoes in the resturant ? Can anyone help !!!

  1. This is a 4* resort. Generally most hotels require a dress code. They are not stringent but they do prefer men dressing respectfully, especially at dinner. They understand that if you're at the beach all day that you won't necessarily go in to change. But proper cover ups are necessary.

As for open-toes shoes (for men or women) is not a major issue.

But what they are asking for is to keep things respectable and nice. Most men and women at all resorts usually do dress nicely (dressy casual, not formal) when they go for dinner. The restaurants are nice and service is good quality...not fast food style...so that's what you base it on.

Don't worry or stress about it too much. Enjoy yourself and lookin' good and freshened up after an amazing day in the sun!

*edit: well I suppose these other two would know about the dress code as I haven't been to this specifc hotel (which I thought I'd mentioned). Remember though, if you are actually booked at this resort, don't let other negative experiences from other online reviews ruin your trip. There have been many who did not like some places but others have actually enjoyed it. Just keep an open mind.

Like I said before, don't stress too much and relax about it all.

Next time you travel, might I suggest a Sol Meliá resort chain. This is one of the main and best hotel chains in Cuba that most have never had an issues with.

Have a great time in Cuba!

  2. I went to this resort last October and honestly, it was a bit of a let down.   Yes, it's a 4* resort but they were lacking quite a bit while we were there and it's getting a bit run down in appearance.  (they actually ran out of red wine at the restaurants for a few days)  As for the attire at the restaurants, I generally wore jeans and sandals so you shouldn't have much of an issue in that regard.   If you're still looking to book somewhere, I'd STRONGLY recommend Playa Pesquero in Holguin!!   It's the second best resort I've been to - the best was the Gran Bahia Principe Akumel in the Mayan Riviera.

  3. i have just got back from this hotel and i can tell you it was not a good experience. don't bother with the a-la ca-rte it is the worst i have ever had we tried the cuban Italian and the grill, cuban was the best Italian was disgusting. we gave up after that. the buffet restaurant has serious hygiene issues the birds are flying in crapping on the tables taking food off peoples plates or flying into the food hall for food that is un -covered. the flies are all over the food. they use the same knife to cut the pork which has blood coming out of it as is then used to cut the turkey!!!! mosquito's are really bad!!! you cannot get a brolly by the pool the man wants 5 peso for the privilege. long trousers are not required but may be use full against the mossies. we arrived home 3/7/2008 all the people we met are going to be leaving messages on trip ad visor no-one was happy. good luck!!!!!!!
