  1. gravity from the sun pulls the earth the speed changes during direction and distance from sun

  2. No, the motion cannot be changed by the motion of oceans. Only an outside force can change Earth's orbit.

  3. No.  Ocean waves are just surface ripples on the water caused by wind action.

    .

  4. I'm not sure about that.

But I did recently see a show that was talking about the thing that affects those waves you speak of...the Moon.

I dont remember the exact science of it, but the Moon is on an oblong orbit around the earth with is a little bit BEHIND the earth. In a sense, the Moon is lagging a bit behind and its gravitational pull is causing the earth to slow down in spinning. It was a very tiny fraction of speed, but I think that was the general idea. Thats why it is said that every day is the longest day ever. just by a fraction

  5. no, the ocean's wave is affected by the moon.

  6. Hmm.  Lots of confusion about this.  The Earth has two motions.  Its rotation (turning around its axis) IS very slightly affected by the tides, which slow it an infinitesimal amount every year.  Its revolution around the sun is not affected at all.

  7. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore yes, by maybe a billionth of a trillionth of a millisecond.

Fact: a few large mega-earthquakes have slowed down the earth rotation for the day by a minuscule amount (as stated above).

  8. No. Ocean waves have nothing to do with Earth's orbit around the sun. However, the shifting of ocean tides *are* slowing down Earth's axial rotation by about 2.2 seconds per 10,000 years.
