Why is the ocean stronger at night than at day?

  1. not really true except if one is referring to coastal wave action

    at night commonly "land breezes" will occur and these "off shore winds" will cause waves to "pile up" higher before breaking

    google/yahoo "land breeze" and "sea breeze" for a good explanation of the cause of these

  2. I would do what the guy above me said....but ill take the ten points =)

    honestly though during the day and especially in the summer months the atmosphere is much more stagnant so wave action is simply following the tides and not the winds.....at night when the winds are stronger the waves are now a combination of tides and winds......that is the only explanation i can think of.....enjoy
