Hi, I am going to re-do my bedroom into an ocean/beach theme. The walls are white and I have brown furniture. So I am going to paint the walls a cream color. I am wondering though, any ideas of how to decorate into that theme though.? and if any of you have cheap ways for decorating the room? Any ideas thanks so much in advance

  1. You can get large sea shells and sand dollars and put velcro on the back of the shell and place the other side of the velcro on the wall for accent pieces. My grandmother did that over a desk. I never even thought of that. She also took a odd shaped wooden mirror and glued sea shells in a cluster on the bottom frame of the mirror.

  2. You can find some great inspiration at The Hawaiian Home

  3. I once took care of a lady (I'm a nurse) who had a wall wallpapered with a huge picture of a forested mountain. I would think you should be able to do the same with a beach scene.

  4. You could get starfish to hang on the walls, a painting of the ocean (try searching www.art.com), maybe get an inexpensive adirondack chair (I know these are generally used outdoors, but they would give a casual beach feel to your bedroom while adding comfy seating), blue sheets and comforter or a big white down comforter for an island hut type of room. Drape mosquito netting around the bed.  Instead of cream on the walls, you could do a light calming blue also. Or do a blue accent wall behind your bed. Decorate table or dresser tops with seashells. Not sure of the size of your room or how creative you are willing to get, but you could also hang a hammock in a corner. For curtains, I would use white sheers. They are really inexpensive and give a nice casual, laid back feel to the room. Try searching online for other beach rooms for inspiration.

  5. here is a link to a beach theme item you can make yourself for your room
