Octavio Alesi captures Men’s 50m butterfly gold: Day one – Venezuela Open Championships
Octavio Alesi of MAPOR captured gold medal of the Men’s 50m butterfly in 14 and Over category on initial day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 17.
The 26-year-old Alesi demonstrated his smothering efforts in the shortest butterfly discipline and outsmarted his opponents in his age category.
With his stupendous efforts, Alesi sustained his fastest qualification efforts and sprinted his way towards the finishing blockade by submitting a wonderful time of 23.95 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Albert Subirats of HHISP, who stayed 0.09 seconds apart and hit the finishing wall by reporting a time of 24.04 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Roberto Gomez of SCLN, who remained 1.14 seconds apart and tapped the wall for bronze medal by producing a time of 25.18 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Jesus Casanova of MAPOR, who was 0.15 seconds slower from overpowering his former finisher and emerged on the wall with the timing of 25.33 seconds.
Casanova was trailed by Glen A Sochackyj of HHISP, who transpired on the finishing end as fifth best finisher by touching the wall in a time of 25.48 seconds.
Similarly, the crowd witnessed gruelling efforts of Alejandro Petruzzella of CIVMI, who stayed just a stroke away from upsetting his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 25.61 seconds.
Petruzzella was chased by Erick Perez of HHISP, who stayed 0.09 seconds apart and completed his race in seventh best place by hitting the wall with an effort of 25.70 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Andres Doria of IDLEO, who stayed 0.01 seconds away from his former finisher and clocked a time of 25.71 seconds.
Following that, the crowd witnessed exhausting efforts of Jesus Lopez and Yosmar Jimenez, who failed to overwhelm each other and ended in a joint finish for ninth position by posting a time of 25.99 seconds.
In addition, the crowd appreciated commendable efforts of all participants in the 50m discipline while the position holders received awards and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize ceremony of the championship.
