  1. I know it may sound like a  silly reply but if your using a wireless router for instance and you've disconnected it for some reason , Have you re connected it?

  2. You don't have the dongle plugged in to the computer downstairs?

  3. Please provide more details.  I'm assuming the one downstairs WAS working.  Also, where is the wireless access point?  Is the computer downstairs wireless or not?  If not wireless, try a different port on the router or make sure your interface on the computer is on (not disabled).  If wireless downstairs, see what kind of signal you are getting - could be getting interference if you are a ways apart even if it used to work.

  4. there is many reasones you have to give us more detailes to exclude some of these reasones.

  5. Well, For starters, Do you have a Wireless Network Adapter for the computer downstairs? And if you do, Have you installed all necessary drivers that came with the adapter?

If yes to both of those, And you cant detect the wireless network - It is very possible that the signal is not making it from your router to the location of your other computer.
