Odd shaped and colored toenail?

I have had this toe nail since i was young, its has no pink-white thing its just all one brownish yellowish thing, looks like a corn chip, and it sticks out a little. I has never bothered me before but i recently joined cross country and after 3 days it was killing me, when i looked at it, the nail looked like it had lifted a little by little from the toe. What made it feel a little better was cutting it and sanding it, but it still hurts a little (not enough to affect my running currently). Does anyone know why my toe nail is like this and how i can fix it or make it hurt less?

  1. I think the best thing to do is see a doctor, maybe a podiatrist, and have him check it out. It could be genetic, but usually unhealthy nails are a sign that you might be lacking in nutrition, mostly vitamin D, a little of Vitamin K, and calcium. If it has a fungus, then the best thing is to put Vicks Vaporub on it since the petroleum and menthol can kill the fungus. Don't stress out too much about it but definitely see a professional first.

  2. its prob nail fungus
