Odds in favour of Houston Texans but can face strong challenge from Tennessee Titans – NFL Preview
The Tennessee Titans will host the Houston Texans in a total American Football Conference (AFC) South showdown and for the first time under new offensive coordinator Tom Moore who has just joined the team to replace fired coach Chris Palmer.
Palmer’s departure appeared inevitable amid the way the Titans lost their game to the Jacksonville Jaguars on past weekend. It was not loss of just a game but loss of more than half a dozen opportunities that, if availed, could have confirmed an easy victory
for them.
With that game over now, the team has sought to regroup under reign of the new coach, hoping to topple the strongest competitors of the AFC South – the Houston Texans.
Although the Texans have maintained a hundred percent record, except for one loss, they have suffered with some serious injury blows on the defensive line. Their key players at linebackers are on the sideline with a number of respective injuries.
Coach Gary Kubiak admits they have to depend on the younger crop of LBs and urged the team to minimise the level of mistakes to adjust an overall impact on the performance, which could possibly hurt their victory chances because of absence of the senior
players.
It is yet again that the team should seek to find answer to their defensive vows through offensive strategy. The team has plotted high-paced offence to leave little room for attacks from oppositions’ offence. If they are able to make effective use of the
offensive scheme, they can certainly walk over the Titans conveniently.
Odds are nevertheless in favour of the Texans. Their historical record and the recent record favour them to a win on the weekend, although the game can be very competitive given the Texans are hurt on the LBs position, while the Titans can rebound strongly
on the recent and most concerning loss to the Jags.
The Texans need their offensive trio to find full form. QB Matt Schaub, running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson have to give their best to help the side defeat the rivals. A win is more important for the Texans than the Titans. They will
almost be through to playoffs in case of a victory, but the Titans will just add another point to their playoff prospects if they win.
As per present standings in the league, AFC South is led by the Texans at 10-1, while the Indianapolis Colts are behind them at 7-4 points. The Titans are at third position but in case they lose another couple of games, they will be far behind their competitors
from other divisions to qualify for wildcard opportunity.
