Oddysey set for taking down the field of the BDN Civil Engineering Handicap
Nearing the end of the flat season, the race horses can hardly be held responsible for the deteriorating form, however the Class 4 BDN Civil Engineering Handicap has still managed to pull together a line-up of eight three-year-old runners. The short listed potential is Oddysey, Supreme Luxury and Future Security.
The contestants will race over a mile and a furlong on Wednesday, 10th October at Nottingham for taking back the £4,075 prize money to the connections.
The three-year-old bay filly, Oddysey, has had a busy 2012 campaign with seven outings at multiple race tracks. The worst that she had to go through was the eighth position in the seasonal debut, but the rest of the outings reflect the intensity with which she wants to contain on the rankings.
The Irish bay filly had her first success in the Bet At Betvictor.com Apprentice Handicap on 9th July, 2012 at Ayr over seven furlongs. She made the most of the trip when paired up with jockey, Lee Topliss.
It was not until the final two furlongs that the three-year-old took a prominent spot in the field. Leading inside the final furlong had her defeating, Lord Franklin, by 2 ¼ lengths.
The favourite entry for the race, Regal Acclaim, ended fourth in the field of seven.
After a neat pair of two second scores, she bagged the £2,264.15 in the John Greaves & Derek Wilson Supports TRC Fillies’ Handicap on 9th August, 2012 at Haydock over a mile. The good surface was in the favour of the riding team as the duo defeated, Social Rhythm, by three lengths.
Taking refuge in the third position was, Indian Giver.
The Michael Dods trained was once again paired up with the same jockey, Lee Topliss.
The fourth gate will have the same rider company. The ground conditions are good to soft, a combination of the two track surfaces over which she has won previously.
She will need to keep an eye on those who are planning to revive their rankings through the chance today. Supreme Luxury was victorious the last time when she raced and, Balady is not far behind with a second score in the most recent outing.
