West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie has credited manager Steve Clarke for the club’s improvement and flying start to the Premier League this season.
The striker believes that West Brom’s flying start to the season is all due to the hard work, philosophy and vision of Steve Clarke.
The Scot was appointed as West Brom’s manager during the summer, following Roy Hodgson’s departure for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team managerial position.
This marks Clarke’s first senior managerial role, and many expected the Scot to fail at the club. After an unsuccessful season as part of Liverpool’s coaching staff under Kenny Dalglish, Clarke has proved all his doubters wrong and surprised critics as he
led West Brom to their best ever start to a Premier League campaign in over 29 years.
West Brom started their campaign with a convincing and impressive victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019, Tottenham and Aston Villa.
The club has been a force at home, and have only lost one game at the Hawthorns, which came against reigning English champions Manchester City. West Brom have also been defensively solid and played some of the finest attacking football in the league.
Having suffered two consecutive defeats recently, West Brom bounced back with a win over Southampton this past Monday, with striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 grabbing an impressive brace. This win has lifted the Baggies up to fifth place, tied on points with Tottenham
and Everton.
The Nigerian international has paid tribute to the manager, and believes that he is to be credited for the club’s strong start and improvement this season. Speaking to reporters, he said:
"We are improving as players individually which is very important. It is so obvious many players have improved and the manager deserves a lot of credit for that.”
"His goal this season was to increase the number of passes we make and that makes you enjoy the game more and brings more excitement.”
"We create so many chances and those things are also very encouraging. We will be surprised to finish in the top six or seven but I don't think we will say it is a mistake if we keep playing like we have for the past two months."
