West Brom striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 is delighted with the team's response after having suffered two consecutive defeats in the Premier League.
The striker was in fine form this Monday as he grabbed a brace at the Hawthorns and helped West Brom grab all three points in the win against Southampton.
This marks West Brom’s first win in three games; they suffered two consecutive defeats in the Premier League against Manchester City and Newcastle United respectively prior to the win.
However, Monday’s victory over the Saints moved up West Brom four places into fifth spot, tied on points with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 and Tottenham.
Odemwingie believes that the club’s improvement this season is all due to Clarke’s hard work and football philosophy, and insists that their current position in the league is not a fluke.
The win puts momentum back in favour of the Baggies, who have successfully bounced back from the 2 back-to-back defeats and regained their flying form.
The Nigerian international has been impressed by everything that Clarke has done this season. He paid tribute to the manager’s focus on stability and his determination to keep hold of West Brom’s key players. The striker also praised Clarke for bringing
in new players during the summer within the budget and his ability to have strengthened the team.
Many had expected the Scot to fail as he replaced Roy Hodgson in the summer, but the manager surprised everyone. Speaking to reporters, Odemwingie said:
“After the Southampton game, even one point from the previous two games, when we lost so late on, would have put us fourth.”
“The expectations from our fans are high and after losing against the champions, being so disappointed as a team means we are getting better and the ambition is there.”
“It’s a big plus for us so it’s a challenge and the better the results we get, the more confidence grows. We are playing quality football as well and we’ve been getting results against very good sides.”
The striker knows that West Brom face a tough task of maintaining their good form, especially with more than half the season left to be played. He however remains confident that the Baggies have the quality to persevere and finish in the top 6.
