West Brom striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 is targeting a special season with the club and hopes to make the most out of his omission from the Nigerian international squad for the African Cup of Nations by focusing on Albion.
The striker has been in good form for the Baggies this season, continuing from where he left off last campaign. Despite being linked to a host of clubs in the summer, Odemwingie was tied down on a new deal by new manager Steve Clarke, who has been successful
in tying down the club’s most experienced and influential players on new contracts.
The manager has been the major reason behind West Brom’s success this season, and has been a revelation ever since his appointment. Odemwingie was expected not to feature for the team as much as last season, but has put in terrific performances and has secured
a spot in the starting 11.
The player was recently omitted from the Nigerian national team for next month’s African Cup of Nations. Odemwingie admitted that he was disappointed at the news, but hopes to make up for it by focusing on Albion instead and helping them secure more wins.
The player has scored 4 goals so far this season, but has assisted more and worked hard for the team. Odemwingie would have missed a number of games in January and February had he travelled to Africa for the tournament, but will now be staying put at the
Hawthorns. The player is looking forward to helping the team rise from its current 7th position on the league table and said:
“Albion is on a mission. We have just started so nice this season and maybe we can have a great season. If I stay here for the extra games, it could mean a lot. I’m in good form and score goals and bring points to the team, I’ll be very happy at the end
of the season.”
“It is also a plus I can continue to be here for what could be a very special season for us. Even if it doesn’t end up being so, we are going to give it our best shot.”
