The Uzbekistani national midfielder has urged his side to win the remaining Russian Premier League games to secure a UEFA Champions League spot.
Anzhi Makhachkala continued their quest to secure a UEFA Champions League spot after winning the latest round of Russian Premier League tie 3-0 against Spartak Moscow. Goals from Samuel Eto’o, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shamil-Lakhiyalov-c33241 and a Nicolas Pareja
own goal proved more than enough to seal the win.
The Dagestani club have further entrenched themselves in the battle for a European spot after the latest win against the Moscow-based club at Luzhniki stadium. Anzhi played the fixture on the back of 1-0 defeat against Dynamo Moscow
at home.
In the aftermath of the outcome, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Odil-Ahmedov-c28307 hailed his side’s performance and admitted that they needed a win badly after a couple of disappointed performances against Rubin Kazan, CSKA Moscow and the Dinamiki.
“We were really disappointed after a series of disappointing performance but we have altered the situation for now. We have been unlucky in recent matches, especially during a meeting against Dynamo in Makhachkala. I am glad that
we are able to rehabilitate the fans, after presenting them with a win.” The CIS Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Ahmedov went on to praise the Red-whites, admitting that Spartak are a decent side. However, he added that Anzhi were the better side on the pitch and they deserved all three points.
"Spartak are a very solid team which is not easy to defeat, especially on the road, without some luck. Yes, we were lucky, more than the Muscovites, but I think we deserved the win against them.” Ahmedov concluded.
Speaking on the upcoming crunch league tie against Rubin Kazan, the former Pakhtakor Tashkent midfielder admitted that this is the best time to defeat the Volzhane who are low on confidence after claiming just a point in their
last 2 meetings.
With four league games left to play, Anzhi are at the seventh spot and trail the second-spot by 6 points. Ahmedov urged the fans to get behind the team ahead of the upcoming match against Rubin and assured them of meeting their
expectation.
