Question:

Oedipus Rex: Myth, Faith, and Belief?

I'm not asking for a HUGE explanation, but I have read the story and I don't know how to go about this.

When they ask about myth and faith do thy mean how Oedipus makes quicks decisions based on what little he knows?

Like how he believes the oracles without any proof?

I Just need a few pointers to get me out of this hole.

  1. I'm not quite getting your question about myth/faith, but I'll try to help.

The point is that Oedipus tries to escape his destiny. It is not the oracles to believe, it is his destiny. He submerges himself in false hope that his actions would lead him out of cruel future that he is doomed to, but he does not realize that exactly these actions are foreseen to lead him to his destiny. And he is doomed to fail because he believes that he has a choice, that he can make a difference. I hope I helped =]
