It seems like everyone keeps focusing on the Yankees a great deal of the time. I'm just curious.

  1. Two

  2. prolly like 3 or 4 bc they are the most popular and have more titles then any SPORTS team

im a met fan so idc but if ny only had 1 team and it was the yankees... just imagine that

n this question is another one

  3. lol I know what you mean... I'm saying about 6 articles.

  4. I'd say about 25%.

  5. There mix of them

  6. Maybe 2 but one of them is asked just about every day at least 2 or 3 times & its, Will the Yankees make the play offs? It's the haters that post the questions, so what's with the obsession with a team you hate?

  7. That depends on what you mean...

Probably 1-2/10 of them are directly related to the Yankees

Probably 6/10 or so are general questions that are dominated by Yankee related answers

  8. I'd say one in every seven questions in the baseball section are related to the Yankees. And I honestly believe that most of them are made by Yankee-haters simply trying to pick fights or to rile people up.

Mind you, I'm a Yankees fan, but I don't get caught up in all that nonsense. I come here to offer my baseball knowledge and to hear what others have to say so long as it's intelligent, well-stated and rooted in fact, regardless of team allegiance. Are there ultra-Yankee homers here who only spout good things about the Yankees and bad stuff about everyone else? Of course. But from my dealings here, there are more Yankee haters than lovers and about half those haters are not constructive in their criticisms. They're more likely to say "I hope they finish last" or "Yankees suck" than they are to offer valuable and intelligent baseball talk to support their arguments.

Do I expect Yankee-haters to start liking the Yankees? God, no. If you don't like them, that's your right. But at least be a little more constructive with your answers.

  9. Probably 5. Too much questions from Yankee fans.

  10. Probably one or two. There is just so much going on right now with the yankees organization, they are very popular.

  11. It seems about half the questions are related to the Yankees in one way or another. But who do you blame? Yankee fans for being numerous and passionate about their team? Yankee haters for being numerous and passionate in their dislike for the Yankees? Even with that many questions, they still get a lot of replies every time.

Like it or not, the Yankees are the most loved AND most disliked team in baseball - and for close to a century since they first started winning championships, they have been the center of a lot of baseball talk.

  12. Looking at the last 5 pages of questions, 20 per page, there were 5 on the first page, 2 on the 2nd, 2 on the 3rd, 4 on the 4th and 2 on the 5th.

That's 15 out of 100 questions that specificially had the Yankees or a Yankee player in the title.

Then, there are questions that are asked with a user ID of Yankee in it (although, in all fairness, they may be asking non-yankee questions)

Then, there are questions with no references in it that are soliciting Yankee talk which I didn't look into.

I think probably 3 out of 10 have something to do with the Yankees in one way or another.

I also don't believe the majority of questions come from 'haters' as bunky suggest.

As an outside observer who doesn't count myself as a hater, I do notice more anti-yankee questions just after a rash of "will the Yankees win the world series in 08" or "which of the Yankees 5 starters should get the Cy Young"

And specifically, I think more people in this group are not Yankee haters, as much as they are Anti-Yankee biased fans (not the objective ones, they are cool)

I feel that they don't have the team, but feel it's their duty to bring the idea of the team down to counteract the artificial lifting effects that some fans have.

I point to this question for a good example.

A very biased Yankee fan, supported with a BA by another biased Yankee fan.

Here we have an intentional attack against the Red Sox based on absolutely nothing.  I've never EVER heard a Red Sox fan suggest that the Sox are better than the Yankees (all time), but here is a Yankee fan making an assumption that he wants to discount and of course, Joba Jr makes a simple little agreement statement and voila, a BA for his troubles and was there any doubt.
