  1. the one closest to the top

  2. Assuming you mean the rings that can be removed, which eliminates everything from before 1924, then it's 1953-54 with the Detroit Red Wings.

  3. I'll take a stab at this one.

The Stanley Cup rings have enough room for 13 championship teams to be engraved per ring.

The ring they are on now was started with a spot that says "2004-2005 season -- No season played" and the Hurricanes win the next year made them the 1st championship team engraved on the lower ring.

The ring above has the 1992 Penguins through the 2004 Lightning; above that the 1979 Canadiens through the 1991 Penguins; above that the 1966 Canadiens through the 1978 Canadiens.

The top ring only has 12 teams on it because the 1965 Canadiens didn't leave enough room for the next year which is why the 1966 Montreal win is on the ring below it.  That means that the 1954 Detroit Red Wings are the 1st team on the top ring.

Hope that was the answer you were looking for.

  4. Dag, that means in 22 more years, the Flyers teams will be removed from the Cup.

    Hey, Snider, you hear that?
