I am going to take the liberty of defining the nature of my question further by excluding act selfless acts involving family members and true friends, as I do not think that that they qualify. (Reason:It is, or should be a given that, in most families, one member would do anything to help another of their family members, or bona fide friends, in need, such as rescue them from a burning building, done a kidney or bone marrow if needed, etc.)

  1. There are no selfless acts. Even seemingly altruistic acts like donating a kidney or saving someone from a burning building have hidden psychological and biological motives. In the most obvious sense, people feel good about themselves for doing good (reward). Deeper than that lie the issues of gene preservation (family bonds), the will to power, and countless other factors. Sorry, Gandhi.

  2. just being there for a complete stranger in there time of need.

  3. I really wish I had a good answer to this question.  I feel really selfish not being able to think of something.

Okay thought of something little... I get names off the Angels Trees at Christmas and get gifts for needy kids.
