Ofcom complainers?

can someone please explain to me why people complain about shows to ofcom. very often i feel the complaints arent justifiable. for example recently eastenders screened someone being buried alive after being drugged, but there was no actual violence. three people complained about this and i dont understand why. okay it was controversial but everyone knows what will happpen. someone explain to me why people complain so much, and what the point of ofcom is. even the jade goody racism thing was hardly racist. okay bullying but i still dont think there is any point behind OFCOM. someone explain

Some people are not happy unless they are complaining, the trouble is that they don't know where the off switch is.

People complain where they can and about whatever gets up their nose from time to time.Mostly its because they have nothing better to do.Who cares ?  I am all for letting off steam but I wonder how much Ofcom costs per year and how much the average complaint costs to process.Unless you know l aready I might take some time out to research that.What do you think.
