Off fair mark, Fill The Power to bounce back in Totepool Handicap Chase at Wetherby
Fill The Power was slightly disappointing on his comeback earlier this month, when finishing third behind a useful rival in a novice at Wetherby. Off a fair mark, the 6-year-old is still unexposed as chaser, and could easily bounce back with a big run in
Totepool Handicap Chase, to be hosted by Wetherby on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
On his handicap debut in this sphere, the Sue Smith-trained is making plenty of appeal. He surely deserves respect on the form of his chase debut win early in the year. Straight after bagging a comprehensive 1¼-length victory, the bay gelding went on vacations.
With plenty of expectations on his shoulders, the big fellow returned to action at the start of this month. Under Ryan Mania, the 3-1 started off well in the Bet365.com Novices' Chase.
But soon after tracking the leaders in a great fashion early on, Fill The Power started showing modest form, and went third at the ninth fence. Since he stayed on one pace thereafter, it was very difficult for him to trouble the leading pair.
The going is good to soft once again, but Fill The Power has different plans. The mistakes, which he made on his seasonal comeback, would have given him a good lesson. The memories of his chase debut success are still fresh, and we don’t see him losing,
if he delivers his one hundred percent.
According to our calculations, Mac Aeda could prove the second biggest force. The Malcolm Jefferson-trained will certainly become a huge danger if building on his promising reappearance run here last month. Owned by Mrs D. W. Davenport, the son of Kayf Tara
knows Wetherby’s conditions very well, and has done the trick here in the past.
Besides these two, Wyck Hill is the one with good prospects. David Bridgwater’s charge will have a great chance if showing near peak form on comeback from almost a year off.
Over a distance of three miles and one furlong, nine contestants, including the abovementioned trio, will search a prize of £6,498. The class 3 meeting is scheduled to get started at 14:25 GMT.
