  1. Try practicing your regular axel off ice! Once you can land it off ice, it will give you a feeling for on ice. That's what I did, and it gave me confident to land it on ice!

  2. Hi!  I am just beginning to think about off-ice training a little more seriously myself now, I have just ordered a book about off-ice conditioning.  It hasn't arrived yet, so I can't tell you what I think personally, but it gets excellent reviews, both on Amazon and from other skaters.  It should point you in the right direction and help you to formulate your own off-ice program.

    http://www.amazon.com/Conditioning-Skati...

It covers all aspects of off-ice training, including weight training, flexibility traning, plyometrics, drills, warm-up and cool-down routines.  It also caters for all types of skaters - singles, pairs and dancers.

    Good luck!

  3. 1 hr

  4. i know it is somewhat dated, but if you have a pair of roller blades that is an excellent way to practice.
