Offence “crisp” on the first day of Training Camp for New York Jets – NFL News
Training camps are under full flow as the National Football League (NFL) preseason begins in earnest with teams looking to fully practice the new plays or drills being taught by coaches.
New York Jets like throughout the offseason have got the full attention of the media as both quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow practice the execution of their new roles.
How both players perform this offseason could decide which player leads the team’s offence in the 2012 regular season although the franchise has repeatedly refused assertions of competition for the spot.
The Jets’ offence according to the New York Daily News seemed “crisp” on the first day of training camp in Cortland and Sanchez performed much better than Tebow during the day’s practice.
Speaking to the Newspaper after the training session Sanchez said he was pleased with the day’s practice and the offence performed exactly the way offensive coordinator Tony Sparano wanted.
He said:
“Exactly what we wanted.”
Adding further he continued:
“The pace, the tempo, the excitement. That was perfect. Exactly what Coach Sparano was preaching to us last night.”
Tebow himself was happy with the way the first day of training camp progressed and said that all the roster made strides.
He said:
"I felt like it went really well as an offense. I felt like we did some really good things. I felt pretty good about how I played out there. All of us got a long way to go, including myself... As an offense we made strides. As an individual, I made strides."
All well and good but this was just the first day of training camp and as the preseason progresses we will get a much better look into how the Jets offence is shaping up.
Sanchez though took the majority of the snaps and this signifies that the Jets are looking to him to lead them to glory this year.
It is a big year for Sanchez and he will have to perform at his best to ensure his spot as the starter as well as deliver on the fans huge expectations of the Jets in 2012-13.
