  1. There are so many areas to study and potential careers.  If you are science oriented, a B.S. in biology, microbiology, chemistry would be an excellent asset to any crime lab.  Police Detectives investigate homicides and earn that position after years of work.  Forensic science and medicine is also a very important aspect of homicide investigation.  And there is the coroner, who is an MD and usually a pathologist who determines the cause of death.  Also, criminology and criminal justice are a good place to begin your studies.  Finally, let's not forget law school.  All of these people contribute to crime investigation.

  2. If you want to study offender profiles, you may want to research a criminal psychology degree.  You would also be able to assist the detectives in homicide investigations from that aspect.

  3. Homicide detective, special agent for the FBI would be your best bet.
