Offensive guard John Moffitt placed on Seattle Seahawks injured reserves – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks placed offensive guard John Moffitt on the injured reserves after Paul Fanaika was put back on the active roster.
During the win against Baltimore Ravens 22-17 in the week 10 game of the National Football League current season, Moffitt received a knee injury in the first quarter and went out of the game. He never came back.
According to Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll, the injury is quite bad and Moffitt will not be able to play again in this season. He will undergo a surgery to repair his damaged knee and might take around three or more months to recover.
The coach was disappointed to lose his valuable asset, but maintained that he would recover soon.
"We're going to miss him," Carroll said, "but we'll get him right.
Moffitt was selected in the 2011 NFL Draft by Seahawks. He has started all the nine games this season and was performing very well for his team. The coach appreciated his character and said that he is a hard-worker.
“He's been working so hard at it," the coach remarked. "He's a good character in the locker room and all, and a good guy and really right at the cusp of when we're starting to improve.”
Meanwhile, the management has signed lineman Paul Fanaika who is expected to serve as Moffitt’s replacement. Fanaika was selected by Philadelphia Eagles in the 2009 NFL Draft. He has spent some time with the practice squads of
Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns before joining Seahawks.
The victory against Ravens might not be able compensate the loss Seahawks faced during the match. They not only lost Moffitt, who is out of the season now, but wide receivers Sidney Rice and Doug Baldwin and strong safety Kam Chancellor
also left the game with concussions. Their participation against Rams is still not confirmed.
Seahawks are not having a memorable season so far as they have lost six games and carry only three victories under their belt. They hold second spot in the National Football League West division. They will face a team of relatively
low reputation, St. Louis Rams, in the week 11 game of the season.
