We have followed directions, with no avail. Our site is very active with people who are fearful and looking for help with a cancer diagnosis and with people who have survived and wish to help another. The spam (sexual, porno) is disruptive and undermining trust. We need some expert advise.

  1. depends on how and where the spam is being sent

once you find the ID that's sending it as posts, remove and/or ban them

set the group to restricted membership and set the group to new members are moderated- spam wont get to the group if you delete the post first

sometimes spammers use the files, photo's links and calendar features- until you remove all spam-members, you should limit access to only moderators

  2. maybe if your getting spammed set all your member messages on pending for approvel..this whay you have control and if some one join and it is still going on your may as well put all members on moderation until you can get it undercontrol. I have all my group setup like this for anyone who join..i don't give them all the things to do in the group until a year later. They have to gain the trust of the group.
