Question:

Offering services...are these taxable?

I am located in the metro-Atlanta area of Georgia and I am offering a few services as my business. The nature of my business is mostly tutoring, but also graphic design and transcription.

Do I have to charge my customers taxes for these services? In Georgia, which services are taxable, if any? What is the percentage?

I want to make sure I am in the clear come tax time if I was supposed to charge a percentage of tax.

Thanks in advance! Serious answers only.

  1. These are personal services you are offering, not selling a product or prepaid service.  There is no sales tax.  You may however be hit with business tax levied by your city or county where you work.  Be sure to prepare for that tax, especially if you filed for a business license or a fictitious name DBA.
